"ALMEJAR 2030" means "aiming to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030". ALMEJAR is an acronym for "Analyze Litigation and Mediation on Environment and Justice, Avoiding Risks".

Collaborative pedagogical game, designed to involve all students in a class (between 4 and 50 students) in a collective debate, during the time of a class (between 1 and 3 hours). The students discuss ethical and legal aspects of a socio-environmental conflict and creatively contributing to the co-construction of innovative sustainable solutions.

The game is based on role playing using visual supports to illustrate:

a) the scenarios that are images to illustrate socio-environmental conflicts and constitute the "board" of the game;

b) the "parties in the conflict" correspond to the stakeholders involved in the discussion of a socio-environmental conflict;

c) catastrophic events that change the conditions of the discussion, during the game.

The course of the game depends on the legal arguments mobilized by the actors to defend the positions of the groups represented in the conflict and creativity in proposing solutions. In the end, the sustainable socio-environmental solution is written down.

With this pedagogical project, students are expected to be able to:

a) understand the complexity of socio-environmental problems;

b) evaluate the difficulty of making decisions in favor of sustainable development;

c) apply, in the context of simulated practice, previously learned knowledge;

d) deepen the capacity for legal argumentation;

e) exercise mental flexibility in understanding different points of view;

f) train creativity in proposing fair and effective solutions with a view to defending minority rights or the rights of vulnerable majorities, and in promoting the effectiveness of the fulfillment of asymmetrical duties;

g) to develop a critical spirit and capacity for fair weighting of interests;

h) develop competences for co-construction of fair and effective solutions;

i) develop skills to mediate conflicting positions;

j) practice writing synthetic and consensual conclusions.
